Maine in May: Part 2

Maine 2014 May 279Maine’s May weather can be a bit fickle-pack layered clothing. As we drove around Lake Madawaska on Mother’s Day, hints of melting snowbanks peeked out from under trees and  shaded roof lines. Yikes!

During the week, we made the 30 mile trip to http://grandfalls.com/ in New Brunswick, Canada (Pack your passport.) in hard-driving cold rain. We viewed the falls and then toured Assumption Catholic Church before driving the widest main street in Eastern Canada, Broadway Boulevard. Grand Falls/Grand-Sault prides itself on bilingualism and even the town name is in both French and English, as are all traffic signs.

A definite “must-see” is Caribou’s historic Sleeper’s Market.

Pay attention to the landscape as you commute from one point to another, it is ever-changing, picturesque and tree-filled.
