Stone Mountain Park Information

My fascination with natural settings leads me to seek them out even in major metropolitan areas. During an extended  Hartsfield International Airport layover in Atlanta, Georgia,  I convinced my husband Ken to join me at one of my favorite natural settings in that area: Stone Mountain Park.

As a former Atlanta resident, I’d frequently trek out there to hike, attend festivals and view the nightly laser light show. However, in all those visits, I’d never taken the Summit Skyride.

Knowing we had limited time, Ken and I hopped the cable car and were amazed by the intricate carvings on the Confederate Memorial as we headed 825 feet above ground to take in the stunning views of Atlanta. Despite the crowd, it was silent; all captivated by the majesty of nature.

Proof that you’re actually on top of the mountainproof.
